Academic libraries face a persistent challenge: how do you provide comprehensive access to scholarly content when traditional publisher and aggregator subscriptions only cover a portion of what researchers and students need?
The integration between LibKey and Article Galaxy Scholar (AGS) addresses this gap by creating a more complete pathway to academic content.
Third Iron and Research Solutions have been hard at work over the last year to develop an integration of LibKey into the AGS workflow.
This integration works by incorporating AGS's unmediated document delivery capabilities directly into LibKey's existing workflow. When a user encounters an article, LibKey automatically checks Open Access sources, existing subscriptions, and aggregator content first. Only when these options are exhausted does the system consult AGS for unmediated delivery—ensuring libraries don't pay for content they already have access to while expanding what's immediately available to users.
We'll Cover: How the Integration Functions: The technical workflow that connects LibKey's waterfall structure with AGS capabilities Access Expansion in Practice: Real examples of how this extends your collection beyond current subscriptions End-to-End Live Demonstration: What researchers see when accessing content through the integrated system Cost Management Features: How the system prevents duplicate payments while expanding access Setup and Configuration: Practical steps for implementing the integration at your institution Live Q&A Presenters will be John Seguin, President & Chief Librarian at Third Iron and Jonathan Wilson, VP of Implementations and Customer Support at Research Solutions
