The way we read and absorb text has changed dramatically over the last few decades. The internet has transported the written word from the confines of a few carefully curated books to the phone screens in everyone’s pocket, and accredited publishers are no longer the gatekeepers of what and how we read – in the 21st century, anyone can publish with almost no constraints. This has made reading a far more complex task than before. How can we verify what we read online? What skills are involved in evaluating the trustworthiness of a source and understanding the information provided?
