There is no shortage of conversation about the potential of AI. What has been harder to find is evidence of its real-world impact in libraries. The Academic AI Impact Study, based on in-depth interviews with library professionals across eight institutions, provides evidence on how AI is reshaping core library workflows. Across course reading list preparation and metadata cataloguing, the pattern is consistent: staff effort shifts from manual entry to professional judgment, capacity grows without additional headcount, and materials reach users faster.
Join practitioners from the study as they share what changed in their
day-to-day operations, why human oversight remains essential, and what library
leaders should consider as they evaluate AI adoption in their own
institutions.
This session is for librarians responsible for operations, technical services
and strategic planning.
